Acute phase proteins (APP), particularly Haptoglobin (Hp), serum amyloid A(SAA) and others are good markers of many diseases in cattle because of significant increase of their concentration during inflammation and other health problems. Elevated concentration of positive APP including Hp have been detected during normal periparurient period as well as in various cases of mastitis, endometritis, pneumonia, enteritis, dermatitis digitalis and other diseases. There are not many papers concerning measurement of Hp serum concentration in early postparturient period including measurement on cases of fetal membrane retention (FMR) and monitoring of their therapy.
