Laparoscopic Reposition and Fixation of the Left Displaced Abomasum in Dairy Cattle Practice - Ten years of experience under field conditions in the Netherlands

This article describes over 10 years' experience using two different techniques of laproscopic-guided abomasopexy after left abomasal displacement. All operations were done under field conditions by all cattle veterinarians of the 't Wijdseland Veterinary Health Centre in Doesburg, The Netherlands. The laparoscopic replacement of an LDA is relatively easy to learn. Practical tips and tricks are mentioned in this article. Laparoscopic repositioning and fixation is considered practical, minimally invasive and allows a rapid postoperative recovery of the cow.
