The wide use of anti microbial drugs in the control of cattle diseases has led to concerns over the potential for emergence of resistance and the associated risks to human health. In response to these concerns and to maintain the efficacy of the available products it is important that veterinary surgeons develop an evidence based approach to their use of anti microbials in conditions such as calf pneumonia, taking into account knowledge of a drug’s pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics.
