Ruminant surgery essentials RVC Course - 25th May 2011
 
This course is designed to train the farm animal practitioner in the essential skills required for proficiency in common farm animal surgical procedures. It will consist of lectures and practical wet lab sessions. By the end of the course participants will acquire practical surgical skills and be able to perform local and regional anaesthesia for surgical intervention of the ruminant head, abdomen, limbs and urogenital tract. Participants will also understand the surgical decision making processes behind common procedures. The course is suitable for any veterinary surgeon performing routine farm animal surgical procedures.
 
Managing periparturient health in dairy cows RVC Course - 21st – 22nd September 2011
 
This course is aimed at recent graduates or mixed practitioners wishing to hone their skills in dealing with common periparturient conditions in dairy cows. Day 1 of the course will identify practical and successful approaches for managing individual animals, including caesarean section and displaced abomasums through both lectures and a practical cadaver surgery session. Day 2 will focus on herd problems, with the aim of establishing a health management approach to periparturient disease, including milk fever and endometritis control.
